OTHERWISE INCORPORATED NAMED A FINALIST FOR CONSOLIDATED GRAPHICS, INC.’S ENCORE™ AWARDS

Author: Makenzie Davies

Recognized for Excellence and Innovative in the Books & Annual Reports Category

CHICAGO, IL March 12, 2012 – Otherwise Incorporated is pleased to announce it has been named a finalist in the second annual Encore™ Awards, presented by Adobe Systems. The Encore Awards were created by Consolidated Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: CGX) to recognize creative and effective print and marketing solutions in the print industry.  Adobe Systems joined the program in 2012 as the presenting sponsor.

Otherwise was recognized as a finalist in the Books & Annual Reports category for the conception and design of the 2012 Annual Report for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

David Frej, Chief Creative Director at Otherwise, explained, “As part of our ongoing relationship with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, one of the largest philanthropic foundations in the U.S., we partnered with the WKKF communications team and ROI Ventures to create the foundation’s 2011 annual report. With their focus on engaging with communities tribally, nationally and internationally, the foundation is committed to paving paths to success for vulnerable children, propelling them to realize their full potential in the larger community and society.”

“From the outset,” Frej continued, “we sought a conceptual and creative direction to effectively communicate WKKF’s journey over the past year — from exploring its core values and aspirations to its fundamental work, as well as the reflections and insights gained while working towards achieving its mission. We understood that the design of the annual report would play an essential role in illustrating the foundation’s complex and multi-faceted journey. We also knew that in order for the annual report to effectively represent the foundation’s work, we would need an approach that allowed us to gather and share voices — from both within and outside the foundation — of people who understand vulnerable children.

“Our customers range from local businesses to some of the most recognized brands in the world, and the Encore Awards recognize their marketing excellence and innovation at work in the marketplace today,” said Aaron Grohs, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, for Consolidated Graphics. “This year we saw some breakout marketing collateral that pushed the boundaries of what is possible in print, and proved how effective this medium can be.”

An independent panel of six judges met on January 9 in Houston, TX, to review and discuss the merits of each entry, and finalists were chosen from among hundreds of submissions. Finalists’ entries successfully incorporated a wide variety of technology, equipment and software from across Consolidated Graphics to meet the objectives of the entry.

The Encore Awards will be presented at Consolidated Graphics’ emerge™ 2012 conference, which will take place April 17-20 in New Orleans, LA. The entries will be on display throughout the conference where attendees can view them and cast votes for the People’s Encore Award. The People’s Encore Award will be announced on April 18 at the Encore Awards gala.
