This was an exciting week, as EXPO /DIALOGUES, an artist residency panel discussion, was held at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was a wonderful discussion, with panelists Nicholas Wylie of ACRE, Cortney Lederer of BOLT Residencies, Elizabeth Chodos of Ox-Bow, Brad Killam of Poor Farm and Abigail Satinsky of threewalls. The panel was moderated by Tricia Van Eck of 1608North and The Happiness Project.
The Seen also featured Gwynne Johnson’s exhibition at the Chicago Artists’ Coalition. Conflating images of Ireland and Chicago, Johnson’s photographs reveal an ambiguity: the images reflect the uncertainty of place hat emigrants experience. The powerful solo show, entitled This Doubtful Paradise, was Johnson’s exhibition for her BOLT Residency at CAC.
