This week on Simply Magnificent, we spotlighted DouglasRosin Decorative Arts & Antiques. Nestled in the heart of River North’s gallery district is Chicago’s premiere antique store and hidden gem, DouglasRosin. This gorgeous two-story space is filled with a unique selection of paintings, sculptures, prints, furniture, vintage couture, costume jewelry and other decorative arts from the 20th century.
Next, we featured an article on the Farwell Building and The Residences. The architecture of The Residences incorporates the Farwell Building’s distinct characteristics into the new structure’s elegant style.
Finally, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Chicago hosted their exclusive opening gala for Simply Magnificent: A Showcase of Homes. The showcase is open for tours of five ultra-luxury residences within The Residences, decorated by leading interior designers from the US, London and Spain.

This week on The Seen, we published a review of Rashid Johnson’s incredible show at the MCA Chicago. Johnson’s first major solo museum show, Message to Our Folks features works such as “Black Yoga,” which consists of a Persian rug and a video monitor of a man doing yoga on the floor of the gallery. A self-portrait titled “Self-portrait with my hair parted like Frederick Douglas,” questions, if you part your hair like a brillant man, do you become a brillant man?
Next, we featured an exhibition on view at David Nolan Gallery. A New York gallery exhibiting at EXPO CHICAGO’s September opening, David Nolan presents drawings and sculpture installations by artist Jorinde Voigt.
Finally, The Seen went on scene with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Fashion Show 2012. We live tweeted the glamorous Chicago event from the runway in Millennium Park.
In preparation for the spring/summer season, Stay Gorgeous shared the latest trends for nails and hair. Connie Herrera, director of beauty services at Salon Buzz, discussed skincare secrets and trend-setting tips for spring nails. For spring/summer hair, Stylist Joseph Bartucci talked about the versatile appeal of braids.
This week on the blog, we featured The Scout Running Club. The social running club meets every Tuesday for a friendly 5K and invites all South Loop runners to join the free weekly event to keep an active lifestyle.
Furthermore, we kept residents informed of upcoming South Loop activities like free admission to the Museum of Science and Industry and dog treat cooking classes at Whole Foods.
Finally, we wrapped up the week with a construction update. Heavy machinery has been removed from the plaza, and we are beginning to develop an exciting design at the southwest corner!
