The Seen – Official blog for EXPO CHICAGO

This week on The Seen, we featured an EXPO CHICAGO partner, Leviathan. Leviathan is a Chicago-based, design-focused production studio specializing in the creation of large-scale visual experiences across all media. Leviathan is collaborating with Studio Gang Architects on an unprecedented interior environment design for the fair. Leviathan will create a large interactive installation that incorporates motion-sensing technology to visually depict the movement of visitors, bringing art and technology together in an entirely new way.
Next, we were delighted to publish a series of posts by Chicago curator Tricia Van Eck. Tricia reviewed exhibitions in San Francisco, Barcelona and Karlsruhe, Germany. Make sure to read about the special exhibition at the Kadist Art Foundation, Xavier Le Roy’s Retrospective at the Tàpies Foundation and the ongoing exhibition Sound Art at the ZKM Center for Art and Media. Tricia Van Eck is an independent curator and the Artistic Director of 6018NORTH.

This week on Simply Magnificent, we featured the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP). The MoCP is the only museum in the Midwest with an exclusive commitment to the medium of photography. The MoCP presents Survival Techniques: Narratives of Resistance, on view through July 1, 2012.
Next, we published a guide to Chicago’s top steak houses. From Tavern on Rush, to The Chicago Chop House and Morton’s Steakhouse, Chicago is home to some of the best restaurants in the world. From a list of internationally acclaimed chefs to a variety of interesting restaurants and unique cuisine, the Windy City truly has everything to offer.
Finally, we featured Chicago’s classic Ravinia Festival. An evening in the fresh air accompanied with great food, wine and music might just be the perfect way to spend a summer night. Nestled in Highland Park, Ravinia Festival has been hosting world-class concerts and musical performances since 1904. Each year from June through September, Ravinia opens for incredible performing artists, symphony sounds and jazz concerts.
