The Seen Official blog for EXPO CHICAGO

EXPO CHICAGO_The Seen_Chicago contemporary art blog

This week on The Seen, we featured two solo shows on view at Marc Foxx. The main gallery presents To what degree are we alive, by Roger Hiorns. Hiorns is a British artist who was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2009. In the west gallery is an exhibition of work by Italian-born, Los Angeles-based artist Luisa Lambri. Marc Foxx is an exhibiting gallery from L.A. for EXPO CHICAGO’s September debut.

Next, we reviewed two exhibitions on view at Kavi Gupta Gallery. Scott Reeder’s first solo show at Kavi Gupta includes his recent untitled spaghetti paintings along with a series of new sculptural works. Reeder’s show is accompanied by Henning Strassburger’s solo show, I Am A Girl. Kavi Gupta is an exhibiting gallery for EXPO CHICAGO’s September opening.

Finally, we featured Johalla Projects’ public art installation at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival. Chicago-local artists Matthew Hoffman and Andrea Jablonski have created two incredible large-scale installations for the festival. The goal of the installations is to positively shift the mood and environmental aesthetic of the festival and make the experience as much about the effects of ambiance and atmosphere as the music.
