The Seen – Official blog for EXPO CHICAGO

This week on The Seen, we featured the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s new exhibition, Peripheral Views. MoCP Curator Allison Grant gives an inside look at the process and meaning behind Peripheral Views: States of America, on view through September 30, 2012.
Next, we spotlighted Roy Lichtenstein at the Art Institute of Chicago. With over 160 works on display, the exhibition brings together the largest collection of Lichtenstein’s work to date. His bright, bold canvases are some of today’s most recognizable works of art, but what this show also reveals is Lichtenstein’s lesser-known work.
Finally, we featured Phantom Limb on view at the MCA Chicago. Curated by Michael Darling, the show explores artists who question and depart from the historical belief that the handmade is a mark of genius. This is a great opportunity to see the MCA’s collection of post-war and contemporary paintings, alongside some of Chicago’s own painters.
